Groundbreaking for $27.5 million Student Services Building set for Tuesday, May 6th
Stockton
San Joaquin Delta College will break ground for its new state-of-the-art Student Services Building on Tuesday, May 6th in the Cunningham 1 parking lot. The ceremony is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.
Delta College Superintendent/President, Dr. Raúl Rodriguez, says this event will mark the culmination of more than two years of detailed planning. “The new building will serve as a monument to Delta College’s commitment to the needs of its students and community for decades to come.”
The 50,000 square foot Student Services Building, will house Admissions and Records, Financial Aid, Counseling, Disability Support Programs & Services (DSPS), the Student Assessment Center and WorkNet Program. Its unique architectural design maximizes available space, includes a second story terrace, and adds a visually appealing addition the existing landscape.
Funded by the $250 million Measure L Bond, the Student Services Building is one of several major campus projects slated to break ground. Projects include renovation of the existing Goleman Learning Resource Center, which will create a contemporary, up-to-date library, and a new Data Center and Warehouse, which will serve as the technology hub for Delta’s entire district.
Rodriguez believes the Measure L Bond Program is an example of community support that has always been critical to Delta College’s success. “This project, and others funded by the Measure L Bond, will allow Delta College to move into the future secure in the knowledge that we have the resources to meet the many needs of those who depend on us. Our strength as an institution is inextricably tied to our community and the belief that education can change lives. Please join us on Tuesday, May 6th, as we begin another exciting chapter in the story of San Joaquin Delta College.”
