Delta College Presents the “Delta Band & Orchestra Festival” March 10 & 11 (Stockton)
Delta College presents its annual “Delta Band & Orchestra Festival” on Tuesday, March 10, and Wednesday, March 11, from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Performances will take place in both Atherton Auditorium and the Tillie Lewis Theatre.
Delta College Director of Bands, Arthur J. Holton, Jr., says the central valley has a great deal of musical talent. “We like to ‘show off’ our talent during the festival. Once again, Delta will play host to several thousand high school and junior high school band and orchestra students from across Northern California.”
Music education is a prime goal of the festival. Students have the opportunity to improve their skills and technique with a variety of workshops. At 1 p.m. each day, there will be a variety of Master Class/Clinic sessions on campus.
At 2 p.m. each day, there will be a college band concert in Atherton Auditorium. Tuesday, March 10 features Delta’s Symphonic Wind Ensemble, conducted by Arthur J. Holton, Jr. Wednesday, March 11, features Sacramento State’s Wind Ensemble, conducted by Robert Halseth.
Arthur Holton adds, “Performances start at 8 a.m. and finish at 6 p.m. Come out and support our great local bands! Admission is FREE!”
