Musical performers Los Cojolites of Veracruz, Mexico performs
“Son Jarocho” at Delta’s Tillie Lewis Theatre
(Stockton)
Delta College Cultural Awareness Programs and M.E.Ch.A. of SJDC present the music and dance performance, “Son Jarocho,” by the group Los Cojolites of Veracruz, Mexico. This cultural presentation will take place on Thursday, Nov. 8, 11:30am-12:50pm at Delta’s Tillie Lewis Theater.
The “Son Jarocho” is a cultural expression that combines poetry, music and dance. It was born more than three centuries ago in Veracruz, Mexico. The performance is a fusion of African, Spanish and indigenous Indian cultures. Though the “Son Jarocho” is old, the group Los Cojolites performs it with a remarkable force of rhythm and fresh singing. Los Cojolites have their own contemporary performance style, but make sure to keep the roots of “Son Jarocho” in their show.
“Son Jarocho” by Los Cojolites is FREE to the public!
