DELTA COLLEGE ANNOUNCES POST ACADEMY ENTRANCE EXAM DATES
(Stockton, CA)
San Joaquin Delta College has scheduled Saturday August 29, 2007 and Saturday September 29, 2007 for its initial Police Officers Standards & Training “POST” Academy entrance exams.
Bruce Able, POST Academy Instructor, says the test is a standard basic skills test. “Anyone who plans to seek a challenging and rewarding job as a law enforcement officer in the State of California is required to take this test.”
The test evaluates applicants reading, writing and comprehension ability. In addition, candidates will be required to write a short essay to evaluate their written communication skills. Able adds, “The testing is free, takes about 4 hours and is usually located at Delta College. Once we have enough applicants to test, we will notify candidates of the exact location and time by mail.”
Able says Delta’s program allows students to continue their full time jobs while training to become police officers in the evening. “The program is demanding physically, academically and mentally. Delta College POST Academy graduates are eligible for employment in any California law enforcement agency.”
Those interested in taking the POST Academy entrance exam should call the Delta College Public Safety Office at (209) 954-5370. Candidates interested in evaluating exam questions can download a sample test at the POST.ca.gov website.
