DELTA COLLEGE EXPANDS MATRICULATION RELATIONSHIP WITH CAL STATE UNIVERSITY SACRAMENTO

San Joaquin Delta College and California State University, Sacramento recently signed a memorandum of understanding that will strengthen and expand their relationship. This relationship seeks ways to provide additional paths to success for students pursuing career goals. Prime among these are programs that will provide a “seamless” transfer from San Joaquin Delta College to Cal State University Sacramento.
The San Joaquin County region is experiencing economic and population growth. Communities and educational institutions desire to increase the college-going rate of their citizens. Dr. Charles Jennings, Delta College Dean of General Education and Transfer says the memorandum of understanding commits representatives and faculty from both institutions to meet regularly. “Campus leaders will resolve transfer issues and develop innovative programs supporting higher education and career development.”
The memorandum of understanding commitments include:
*Development of activities that create a greater understanding of the value of
education with a focus on increasing the college-going rate of young people
throughout the region.
*Providing pathways and initiatives for students that will allow a “seamless”
transfer from Delta College to Cal State University, Sacramento.
*Development of career pathways for students seeking a single-subject
teaching credential in science, math and technical education fields.
*Strengthening course articulation and transfer opportunities between
programs in Music, Theater Arts, Mass Communication, Radio/TV,
Accounting, Business Administration and Computer Science.
*Developing an efficient transfer program from Delta College into the
Engineering Programs at Cal State Sacramento.
*Continuing to actively inform students about the CSU Lower Division
Transfer Program, allowing students to satisfy their General Education and
major requirements before transfer.
