SAN JOAQUIN DELTA COLLEGE AWARDS $282-THOUSAND
DOLLARS IN SCHOLARSHIPS
(Stockton, CA)
The San Joaquin Delta College Scholarship Program awarded over
$282,000 to recipients at their annual scholarship awards ceremony this
past Thursday (8/16) at Atherton Auditorium. This year, over 400 individual scholarships were awarded to 202 recipients. Awards range from $100 to
$2000.
Delta’s Scholarship Awards Ceremony has been an annual event since
1980 when the program first awarded $43,000 in scholarships. During the
past 28 years, Delta’s Scholarship Program has awarded over $4-Million in scholarships.
San Joaquin Delta College Superintendent/President Dr. Raul Rodriguez believes Delta’s success in building its scholarship fund depends on theefforts
of its employees and community members. “In essence, it’s a
partnership between the college, community organizations and individuals who make financial contributions to help our students. We deeply appreciate the generous support of our community partners and applaud their commitment.
We simply could not do it without them!”
Rodriguez says the wish of Delta College is to make student’s dreams
come true. He believes Delta’s Scholarship Program can make considerable progress toward that goal. “The pride of Delta College is our students,
especially our scholarship recipients,” says Rodriguez.
He finishes with advice for this year’s scholarship winners. “As you
approach new academic challenges, remember…you alone have the power to make your dreams come true. San Joaquin Delta College is here to assist.”
