Delta College Awards $17,000 For Academic Scholarships
(Stockton, CA)—San Joaquin Delta College awarded academic scholarships totaling $17,000 to outstanding local high school and Delta College students. A reception, with family, friends and Delta College officials in attendance, took place at Danner Hall on Thursday evening, May 17, 2007.
This year, thirty-three students received awards. Delta College President Dr. Raul Rodriguez and San Joaquin Delta College Academic Scholarship Council President, Delta College Trustee Anthony Bugarin, had words of praise and encouragement for the winning students. President Bugarin and Executive Secretary of the SJDC Academic Scholarship Council, Dr. Charles Jennings (SJDC Dean of General Education and Transfer) presented the awards.
Administered by Delta College’s Academic Scholarship Council, these scholarships cover three main categories: incoming high school and Delta College Continuing Students and Transfer Students.
High school winners representing Altaville, Escalon, Galt, Linden, Lodi, Manteca, Stockton, Sutter Creek, and Tracy, took home $500 scholarships. There were ten winners in the Continuing Students Category. These Delta College students received $500 scholarships represent diverse disciplines in Early Childhood Education, Education, History, Information Technology/Computer Science, Photo Journalism, Psychology, Landscape Architecture, Biochemistry and Civil Engineering.
Delta College students Salvador Molina and Jonathan Thomas picked up $1000 dollar scholarships in the Transfer Student category. These students will continue their education this fall at four-year institutions.
