Delta College Students to Celebrate Vietnamese New Year
(Stockton CA)-The Delta College Vietnamese Student Association will host their second annual “TET” Vietnamese New Year Celebration at San Joaquin Delta College. This year’s “TET” performance takes place January 28 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Delta’s Warren Atherton Auditorium.
Cultural dances, Hip-Hop, singing, skits and Break Dancing will showcase performers from Delta College, UOP, Sacramento and San Jose State. Not to be left out are high school performers from Lincoln, Bear Creek, Stagg and Tokay.
Be Nguyen, president of Delta College’s Vietnamese Student Association, helped organize the club in 2003 with just six members. The club now boasts almost 40 members. “Our club’s ‘TET’ New Year celebration was created to let people know about the Vietnamese culture. We like to include other cultures in our performance celebrations.” Nguyen emphasized that this year’s festivities will be “totally in English.”
