Delta Presents Fall Festival of Bands
(Stockton, CA) – The Delta College Symphonic Winds and the Stockton Concert Band will perform under the direction of Arthur J. Holton, III at the Atherton Auditorium on Tuesday,
Oct. 17, 2006 at 7:30pm. Special guests will be the CSU Sacramento Symphonic Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Robert Halseth. The performance will include works by Frank Ticheli, R. Vaughan Williams, Jack Stamp and others.
As a grand finale, the combined bands will perform Galop by Dmitri Shostakovich from his musical comedy Moskva, Cheremushky (the title refers to a region in Moscow). In addition to his dramatic symphonies and concertos, Shostakovich (1906-1975) also composed a substantial quantity of lighter music.
Tickets are available now through the Delta Center for the Arts Box Office, (209) 954-5110. The Box Office is open Tuesday – Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Phone/mail orders will be charged a $3 handling fee. Cash, check, MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express cards will be accepted. Admission is $7.50 for adults, $5 for students and seniors. Children 12 and under are free. You can request complimentary tickets for children at the box office.

A special holiday concert by the SJDC Symphonic Winds and Stockton Concert Band will be performed on December 12 at Atherton Auditorium. The concert will be a fundraiser for the bands once-in-a-lifetime performance at Carnegie Hall in March of 2007. Information Line: (209) 954-5209
