The Bacchae, A Ceremonial Nightmare

The Delta Center for the Arts and the Department of Drama announces open auditions for the first two shows of the 2006 – 2007 season. Auditions will be on Monday, Aug. 28 and Tuesday, Aug. 29.
Open auditions for The Bacchae, A Ceremonial Nightmare directed by Harvey T. Jordan will be held on Monday, August 28 from 7 - 10 p.m. in the Studio Theatre. Freely adapted from Euripides’ The Bacchae, by Harvey T. Jordan is inspired by the poetry of Jim Morrison, the music of Jimi Hendrix, and the experimental performance style of The Open Theatre. There are roles available for approximately 8 to 10 men and 12 to 14 women in a wide range of ages from the late teens to fifties. The performance ensemble may also include 2 to 4 percussionists. Regular rehearsals will begin Tuesday, Sept. 5, and will generally be scheduled Monday through Thursday. Performances are scheduled October 13 through 22 in the Studio Theatre. Open auditions for A Christmas Carol directed by John White will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 29 from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Tillie Lewis Theatre. This version of the Dickens’ classic was written by Romulus Linney for the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre. The play can be cast with a variety of actors in one or more roles. The play is written for 19 male roles, 17 female roles including are 7 roles for boys, and 6 roles for girls. Non-traditional casting will be considered when casting.
Regular rehearsals begin Monday October 16 and will generally be Monday through Thursday. Performances are scheduled Dec. 1 through Dec. 10 (8 performances in all) in the Tillie Lewis Theatre. For more info, call John White at 954-5416 or e-mail jwhite@deltacollege.edu.
