Delta College Board of Trustees Comments on Measure C
(Stockton,CA) -- Delta College Board Members and Administration last night communicated their support of Stockton Unified School District's Measure C, which will come before voters November 8 in a special election. Individual board members voiced their support during the closing comments of the regularly scheduled board meeting.
Measure C is a $120 million bond measure that will help convert SUSD's elementary and middle schools into K-8 campuses, build a new high school in southeast Stockton, construct three new K-8 elementary campuses and modernize 10 existing facilities. The measure will also pay for numerous projects such as roof replacements and painting, and would make the district eligible for as much as $111 million in state funds.
Five years ago, area voters passed Measure G (SUSD's last bond measure) with more than 76 percent approval. Measure G funds have helped build Bush Elementary School, Kohl Elementary School, Cesar Chavez High, and Hong-Kingston, Pittman and Henry schools, which are under construction.
Two years ago, the leadership of SUSD gave strong support to Delta College's efforts to secure passage of Measure L. Delta leadership now encourages all supporters of Delta's Measure L to give the same support to Measure C.
