This course presents principles of physiological and psychosocial integrity and how the nurse provides care through the Client Needs model. The neurological- and psychiatric-based disorders are presented as well as client and nursing responses to these disorders. Health promotion and maintenance is emphasized in the advancement of mental health and the prevention of neuropsychiatric disorders. Clients from childhood to older adult are addressed in the lifespan focus of this course. A community project in the area of substance abuse prevention and treatment will be completed.
