GEOL 016 - Oceanography - Units 3

Prerequisites: MATH 090 with a minimum grade of "C" or better or a minimum of level 4 on the math assessment test; ENG 079 with a minimum grade of "C" or better or composition level 3 or higher.

This course is an introduction to the marine environment. Students explore the physical, geological, chemical and biological characteristics of the world ocean. Topics include plate tectonics, waves and tides, ocean circulation, coastal features and beach processes, origin and structure of ocean basins, sediments, ocean chemistry, productivity, and life in the ocean.
