Early Childhood Education Associate Teacher, Certificate of Achievement

Upon successful completion of the Early Childhood Education Associate Teacher Certificate, the student demonstrates knowledge and skills to be a teacher in a private child care program and an associate teacher in a publicly funded child care program in accordance with the Child Development Permit Matrix regulated by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Skills demonstrated and practiced by a student include developmentally appropriate lesson planning for preschool children, conducting of observations and assessing children's learning, planning nutritional menus, demonstrated use of appropriate guidance techniques, and exhibited understanding of optimal room and yard arrangement with a focus on health and safety.

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will demonstrate an understanding of developmentally appropriate guidance techniques for use in preschool classrooms.
  2. Students will construct developmentally appropriate lesson plans for young children across at least three domains of development.
